Best Two Weeks

L A I T Y   L O D G E   Y O U T H   C A M P

How does anyone even begin to describe their favorite place on earth? To tell you about mine, I could start with the crazy traditions, the amazing people, and the beautiful landscape, but it still would never really explain why LLYC is so special. I've had the privilege of being a camper there for 9 years, of serving on Work Crew, and then working as a photographer for four weeks this summer, so to say that it's significant to me would be an understatement. All of the memories I cherish from this place mean more to me than I can express, and the impact it has had on my life and my faith are invaluable. This is the place where I came to know God and love Him, where I learned so much about myself, and it's one of the only places where whenever I return, no matter how long it's been, I feel like I'm coming home. Sure, most of this could be contributed to the dances, rodeos, and worship services, but it all boils down to one central element: God. For two weeks (our four, or nine, if you're lucky to work there all summer), everything revolves around Him and His light shines through every activity. With all of the distractions of life eliminated and hundreds of miles away, campers, counselors, and everyone on staff has the opportunity to simply bask in His amazing glory, even if it is only for two short weeks. I hope these photos help express even the tiniest smidgen of my love for this place. Honestly, it's difficult to simply describe this place with words, as I'm sure you can tell. It's even more difficult to describe what goes on here, but I think it's safe to say that some of these photos are definitely worth a thousand words.

"Let them praise his name with dancing..." --Psalm 149:3
