As soon as the wind changes and brings the promise of humid Carolina summers, the bluegrass performers emerge from the woodwork of Asheville. Armed with anything from makeshift banjos, violins, to (of course) guitars, these artists with voices like the Appalachians strike a tune. Whether it be nestled in an empty storefront or loud and proud on a busy street corner, they're eager to share their talents.
I noticed the Gin Jars in particular because of one of the members' awesome (yes, they're so fantastic they required italics) sideburns. Copper red, bushy, and surprisingly dapper, after seeing them I couldn't help but work up the nerve to ask them if I could take a few photos.
